Harro Maass

Harro Maass (* 1939 on the North Sea island of Wangerooge ) is a German illustrator and painter.

Life

Maass grew up Wangerooge and studied at the Fachhochschule Niederrhein in Krefeld the subject Graphic Design . He then worked for various advertising agencies in Düsseldorf as a layouter and art director until 1974 . From this date he worked as a freelance nature illustrator and portrait painter.

Maass has lived and worked in Ratingen in the Rhineland since 1978 . On his travels within Europe, in Africa as well as North and South America, he finds the motifs for his depictions of the natural regions of this earth that are to be protected. He carried out commissioned work for the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and the Global Nature Fund and produced illustrations for magazines such as Hörzu , GEO , Merian , National Geographic Germany and Der Spiegel .
