Harry Åhman
Harry Åhman (born May 23, 1912 in Malmberget ; † 1992 ) was a Swedish correspondence chess master and a chess organizer .
Correspondence chess
Åhman started correspondence chess in 1946. He won the correspondence chess championship of Sweden in 1959 and 1961. He took part in many international tournaments, for example the 10th Chess Olympiad. In 1979 the ICCF awarded him the title of International Master of Correspondence Chess .
organizer
Åhman was chairman of the correspondence chess commission of the Swedish Chess Federation from 1958 to 1977. From 1975 until 1989 he worked for the ICCF as an auditor. His services to Swedish correspondence chess were honored in 1970 with the "Collijn Medal in Gold", in 1986 he received the " Bertl von Massow Medal in Silver" from the ICCF , and since 1987 he has been an honorary member of the ICCF.
