Life
Little is known about the life of Hartmann von Lobdeburg. There is a tomb for him in today's Protestant parish church , the former Benedictine monastery church of St. Maria in Auhausen . The inscription in Gothic script on the 2.05 m high and 1.02 m wide sarcophagus is: AS A MAN TO CHRIST Zalt GEPVRT 9 HVNDERT 58 IAR DIED THE NOBLE VND WOLGEPORN HER HARTMANN OF LOBDENBVRG Freyher STIFTER DIEZ GOCZHAVS GOD GENAD. ANNO 1542 THE STONE IS RECOVERED WORD GOD BE PRAISE . In the arch above the head it says: DA LIG ICH VND RVO SEND YOU MVOST AVCH HERZVO . The inscription is based on the false assumption that Hartmann von Lobdeburg founded the Auhausen monastery . The Renaissance monument above a Romanesque tumba shows the deceased life-size in knight armor . The coat of arms of Hartmann von Lobdeburg can be seen at his feet . The tomb is attributed to the workshop of Hans Fuchs in Nördlingen .
