Hartmut Bruno Büttner (born January 2, 1952 in Kolenfeld ) is a former German politician and was a member of the German Bundestag for four terms from December 20, 1990 .

Life

In addition to his vocational training, Hartmut Büttner attended evening secondary school and then the evening high school in Hanover . In 1976 he passed the master butcher examination at the Hamburg Chamber of Crafts and has been working as a self-employed master butcher ever since. In 1990 he moved to Schönebeck in Saxony-Anhalt. He has been married to his wife Milagros since 1975. The couple have three children: Bianca (* 1976), Sebastian (* 1978) and Benjamin (* 1981). In 1998 Büttner received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Political activity

In 1969 Büttner joined the Junge Union and in 1971 the CDU . From 1980 to 1983 he was state chairman of the Junge Union Niedersachsen. From 1984 to 1990 he was, among other things, district chairman of the Mittelstandsvereinigung (MIT) Hannover and deputy state chairman of MIT Lower Saxony. From 1974 to 1990 he was councilor of the city of Garbsen , from 1985 to 1990 parliamentary group chairman.

In the federal elections in December 1990 he was elected to the German Bundestag for the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) via a direct mandate in the constituency of Magdeburg - Schönebeck - Wanzleben - Staßfurt in Saxony-Anhalt . Hartmut Büttner ran a total of four times for the German Bundestag. He won the direct mandate in his constituency twice (1990 and 1994) and was elected to parliament twice on the state list of Saxony-Anhalt (1998 and 2002). For family reasons, Büttner no longer ran for the German Bundestag in 2005. His political functions in the Bundestag were among others: Deputy Chairman of the Interior Committee, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Federal Foundation for the Processing of the SED Dictatorship , Member of the Parliamentary Control Committee for Monitoring the Intelligence Services (twice chairman), Chairman of the CDU regional group Saxony-Anhalt, Chairman of the German-Spanish parliamentary group, member of the executive board of MIT. After his resignation, Hartmut Büttner was re-elected by the German Bundestag to the advisory board of the Stasi records authority. Hartmut Büttner is currently the 1st Deputy Chairman. He is also a representative for the German Bundestag on the Board of Trustees of the Foundation Archive of Parties and Mass Organizations of the GDR and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Federal Foundation for the Processing of the SED dictatorship until 2008.

He did not run for the 2005 Bundestag election. In September 2006, Hartmut Büttner ran for mayoral for the CDU in Garbsen near Hanover. Against five competitors, he initially reached the runoff election with 39.1%. With 49.6% Hartmut Büttner achieved the best result ever achieved by a non-social democrat in Garbsen. Alexander Heuer (SPD) was elected mayor by just 137 votes. In November 2006 Hartmut Büttner was elected chairman of the Garbsen City Council 24 with votes.
