Hartmuth Alexander Jung (born October 10, 1962 in Spaichingen ) is a German business angel and former bank manager. His professional focus is on mergers & acquisitions and investment banking .

Professional background

From 1983 to 1987 Jung studied business administration at the EBS University of Economics and Law , as well as at universities in Paris and London. He completed his studies with a degree in business administration . His professional career began as a trainee at Dresdner Bank . In 1991 he moved to the German subsidiary of the Rothschild Group as deputy director to build up the M&A business. In 1996 he took over the management of the corporate finance division of Barclays de Zoete Wedd (BZW). After the sale of BZW to Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB AG) in 1998, he took over overall responsibility for their investment banking division. From 1999 to 2007 he worked in various positions for UBS , including a. as co-head of the EMEA M&A area. From 2011 to 2013 he again took on the role of Vice-Chairman Investment Banking at Barclays Germany. He has been a self-employed investor and business angel since 2007 and has invested in more than ten companies. Jung was on the Supervisory Board of Global Group AG Idstein until April 2017.

Transactions

Jung has been involved in more than 200 transactions during his career as an investment banker , including a. the takeover of Mannesmann by Vodafone , the IPO of Deutsche Post AG and the takeover of Friedrich Grohe AG by BC Partner.

Jung is currently Chairman of Blockchain Holding GmbH ( Dresden ).

Political and cultural engagement

Jung is committed to politics and culture. He is u. a. Co-founder and board member of the Walther Rathenau Institute for Foreign Policy in Berlin, member of the board of the Friends of the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, member of the board of trustees of the Städel Museum Frankfurt, member of the board of trustees of the Friends of Wiesbaden Museum and member of the board of trustees of the Rheingau Music Festival Oestrich-Winkel.

In 2019 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier for his many years of commitment in the cultural and political field .
