Hartwig Klatt (born April 14, 1952 ) is a former German soccer player. In the 1970s and 1980s was active in the second division of GDR football .

Athletic career

After Hartwig Klatt had played with the Betriebsportgemeinschaft (BSG) Lokomotive in the third-class Schwerin regional league in Bützow until 1975 , at the age of 23 he moved to the 1975/76 season for BSG Einheit Güstrow , who had been promoted to the second-class GDR league . As a center forward he was immediately part of the team, played 21 of the 22 league games and became the Güstrower's top scorer with ten goals .

Since the BSG unit had to relegate after a year from the GDR league, Klatt joined the GDR league team Dynamo Schwerin in the summer of 1976 . There he played eight seasons until 1984, but only one of them was really successful. In his debut season 1976/77, coach Löhle initially experimented with Klatt in different attacking positions until he finally used him continuously as a center forward. Although Klatt only missed one league game, he only got two goals. He played his most successful season in 1977/78, in which he completed 19 of the 22 league games and was the Schwerin’s second top scorer with six goals . Then he became the tactical plaything of the coach, who replaced him in most games, and sometimes let him play in defense. Klatt played his last GDR league season in 1983/84. The 31-year-old only played nine league games in which he was only five times in the starting line-up and scored twice more. With that he made 126 appearances for Dynamo Schwerin in the GDR league and scored 27 goals.

As a recreational footballer, Klatt played from 1984 to 1989 with BSG Chemie Schwerin in the fifth class district class. Until 2019 he was still active in the over-31 team of the sports club in Sukow .
