Hare wood (forest)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hasenholz ( Danish Hareskov ) is a narrow north of the village Satrup in the municipality Mittelangeln in the countryside Fishing in the northeast of Schleswig-Holstein location Hölzung . The name is derived from the animal name Hase in both German and Danish . The forest consists mainly of oaks and beeches , especially red beeches , and sometimes also ash trees with larger proportions of old and dead wood . The wood is criss-crossed by partly overgrown forest paths. In the immediate vicinity of the forest there are several farms such as Rabenkiel (Danish: Ravnkilde ) or Hatteshuus. The Rabenkieler Mühlenau runs west of the forest. The forest area of Jeßlund or Jeßlundkoppel ( Jeslund or Jeslundkobbel ) connects to the north . In the Danish period up to 1864 the forest was assigned to the first Gottorf forest rider district ( skovriderdistrikt ) and administratively to the Satrupharde . The forest has an area of 10 ha, together with the adjacent Jeßlund, this results in a forest area of 19.4 ha. In the meantime, the forest together with neighboring forests such as the Obdrupholzkoppel located to the west as sub-area 2 is part of the FFH area forests on the Bondenau and thus NATURA 2000 protected area.
