content

Ben Hopkins is shooting a documentary about the Turkish metropolis with a small crew. In a conventional way, impressions of everyday life are first captured and interviews conducted until Hopkins discovers shadowy traces on the film material.

While searching for clues, he comes across the unknown sides of the city away from the tourist attractions and news pictures. The filmmaker is fascinated by the nocturnal hustle and bustle in the old quarters of Istanbul and traces the eventful history, the secrets and the ghosts of the city.

criticism

The film service judged that the “melancholy, longing film essay” largely eliminates the “current social situation”, but still offers a “poetic and sensual approach” to the city on the Bosporus.

Awards

The film won the award for best documentary at the Turkish Cinema Awards.
