The Hassia Maschinenfabrik GmbH was a German agricultural engineering undertakings incinerating or which dealt with the production of seeds and potato field technology. The company was based in Butzbach, Hesse .

history

The company was founded in 1880 by Andreas Jakob Tröster in the village of Griedel (today a district of Butzbach). At first göpel and field mills were made. In 1891 the company relocated to nearby Butzbach. A first patent was granted in 1898. Around 1900 one began with the import of agricultural engineering, u. a. from the USA. In 1905 the company founded its own iron foundry and in 1906 the production of chippers began . Later, drills added, one of which could be made to 1942 100 000. After the Second World War, Hassia continued to specialize in seed drills and was granted numerous patents.

In 1951 Hassia production was separated from Tröster KG, which took over sales. In 1958 the first Hassia potato harvester was presented.

In 1971 precision seeders were added as the last addition to the production range. Hassia seed drills have been exported to a total of 70 countries. In 1980 the company employed around 600 people and the 375,000th agricultural machine was sold.

Eventually Hassia had to file for bankruptcy in 1991. The manufacturing company was taken over by the Danish company Cormall. In 1995, Cormall also went bankrupt, now with Kongskilde Industries . A part (with the seed drill division) went to Lemken and the automatic potato planters were taken over by Netagco, now AVR .
