Lemken ( spelling LEMKEN GmbH & Co. KG ) is a company that specializes in product development , production and sales of agricultural technology. It was founded in 1780 as a forge and has developed into a leading company in the field of soil cultivation , seeds and crop protection . The company's main location is in the Lower Rhine Alps , around 50 km north of Düsseldorf .

Sales figures and history

77% (in comparison: 2016: 74%) of sales are in the export sector ; Lemken is represented in 49 countries, 14 of which have their own sales organizations and branches.

The company has been family-owned for seven generations and generated sales of 360 million euros in 2017 (for comparison: 2012: 340 million euros, 2011: 283 million euros, 2010: 218 million euros). In 1996 the Hassia company was taken over. In 2005 the companies RTS ( Meppen ) and Jacoby ( Hetzerath ) were taken over. With these two companies, Lemken also entered the crop protection equipment market.

Locations

Lemken currently operates two plants in Germany, in Alpen and Haren . In 2015, Lemken announced the Föhren location , which was only reopened in 2011 when Hetzerath was relocated, to want to close. Production was relocated to a new factory in Haren. Lemken has been represented abroad since 2012 with a plant in Nagpur, India, as well as assembly locations in Qingdao, China (also since 2012) and Detschino ( Kaluga ) in Russia . The location in Detschino is operated jointly with Grimme .
