Dieter Hattrup

Dieter Hattrup (born August 17, 1948 in Herne ) was professor for dogmatics and the history of dogmas ad personam at the theological faculty in Paderborn .

Life

Dieter Hattrup studied mathematics , physics and Catholic theology in Münster , Regensburg and Bonn . In 1978 he received his doctorate in mathematics. After his ordination in 1980 he worked for seven years in pastoral care. In 1986 a second doctorate followed and in 1990 the habilitation in the field of Catholic theology. Since 1991 he has been a full professor for dogmatics and the history of dogmas ad personam at the Paderborn Theological Faculty. At the end of the summer semester 2018, he retired after 27 years.

He himself describes his way of thinking as sesquiistics (from sesqui = one and a half) and bases it on three principles or pillars:

1. “ Nature is the reality that I can grasp; God the reality that grips me. "

2. “ Truth is the ability to keep myself and others alive; Interest is the shrunken form of truth in which I only want to keep myself alive. "

3. “The freedom of God and man is not directly visible; it shows itself in the world in the shadow play of chance and necessity. "
