Hood lock
The hood lock is based on the Gothic small castle Anwanden erbauter, a listed rectangular building with the address hood lock road 37 in Kempten (Allgäu) .
Description and history
The building was renovated in 1601 and 1632. In the 18th century it was owned by the artist Hieronymus Hau , after whom it is also named ( Hau popularly as a hood lock ). In the years 1716 and 1778 the house with the two twin towers was changed. The hooded lock has served as an inn since 1886 and was rebuilt in 1949 after damage caused by the Second World War . The twin towers are to the west and each have a gable roof . To the east is a steep 18th century gable with volutes . From 1918 to 1955, the Allgäu local poet Else Eberhard-Schobacher lived in one of the tower apartments . Nearby is the Allgäu-Gymnasium and the hooded lock school named after the hooded lock.
