Hauck & Bauer

Elias Hauck (* 1978 in Alzenau ) and Dominik Bauer (* 1978 in Alzenau ) are the German comic artist duo Hauck & Bauer. Her work appears regularly in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung , the satirical magazine Titanic and on the satirical pages SPAM from Spiegel Online .

Life

Elias Hauck and Dominik Bauer went to school together in Alzenau, Lower Franconia, and graduated from the Spessart Gymnasium there. Elias Hauck draws and Dominik Bauer writes the texts for her comics and caricatures. They became known with the comic strip Am Rande der Gesellschaft, which has appeared weekly in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung since 2003 . Its name is explained by the way it is published: It runs vertically down the edge of the first page of the newspaper book Society . The strips appeared as a book under the same title in 2007. In September 2010 the duo published the collection Here is a new cul-de-sac for you with further strips from the series as well as cartoons that had previously appeared in the Titanic and the satire column SPAM from Spiegel-Online .

In the Main-Echo Hauck & Bauer were described as "lithographers of drawn humor", their work is sometimes silly, sometimes malicious "sketches of the zeitgeist." The jokes "often scratched the border of political correctness", judges the Austrian youth broadcaster FM4 Broadcasting . In 2010 the duo received the German Caricature Prize in silver for the drawing No Children and No Career . In August 2011 the book Am I Jesus? Was published together with Michael Tetzlaff . The art of not answering . In January 2012, both received second prize in the Rückblende (photo and caricature competition) , the German prize for political photography and caricature. Since July 2013, under the title We have previously recorded Strips of the two in the entertainer of Anke Engelke moderated WDR telecast Anke has time to see. In August 2013 her anniversary book Man do what you can: Nix was published .

Hauck lives in Berlin , Bauer lives in Frankfurt am Main .
