Haugen is a village in the Norwegian municipality of Stad in the province of Vestland . It is located on the north bank of the Eidsfjord .
Nordfjordeid is about five kilometers east and Stårheim six kilometers west . The Riksvei 15 leads through the village to which the Fylkesvei 661 joins from the north . The stream Hjalma flows through the village and flows into the Eidsfjord not far. North of the place the Tverrelva flows into the Hjalma. The Sjurslielva , which also flows into the fjord, flows south of Haugen .
In 1917 a local school building was converted into a church. In 1989 a new building was built for the parish. The old church building was bought by the municipality in 1995 and has been used as a school museum ever since.
The Haugen skule og barnehage is a school and kindergarten in the village .
