Chemnitz Social Court

The Chemnitz Social Court is a social justice court . The court is one of three social courts in Saxony and is based in Chemnitz .

The courthouse of the Social Court in Chemnitz is located at Straße der Nations 2–4 . It was built in 1967 as the main post office in Karl-Marx-Stadt (today Chemnitz) according to plans by Kurt Nowotny (1908–1984) in the style of GDR modernism .

Judicial district and higher courts

The Chemnitz Social Court is locally responsible for the independent city of Chemnitz , the district of central Saxony , the Erzgebirgskreis , the Vogtlandkreis and the district of Zwickau . The factual jurisdiction results from the Social Court Act .

At the state level, the Saxon State Social Court , also based in Chemnitz, is the higher-level court. The Federal Social Court in Kassel is superordinate to this.

history

There were no separate social courts in the GDR . Procedures under social law were dealt with by the conflict commissions . Those affected could turn to the complaints committee for social insurance at the FDGB against the decisions. After the fall of the Wall in 1992/1993, the new federal states created state social courts and social courts. The Chemnitz Social Court has existed since July 1, 1992.
