Hauptstrasse 30 (Bad Orb)

The building at Hauptstrasse 30 is a protected cultural monument in Bad Orb , a spa town in the Main-Kinzig district in Hesse . The half-timbered house , together with the neighboring house number 28, forms the ensemble of the two patrician houses on Orber Hauptstrasse.
It is assumed that the upper half-timbered storeys of both houses were placed on top of older, solid masonry in 1607. A corresponding year can be found on a stone in the house at Hauptstrasse 30.
The late Gothic house with four window axes has a rich decor. On the first floor there are flat carvings with masks, tendrils and braided ribbons on the frame. On the second and third floors, the ornamental framework consists of firebacks and diamonds . The back of the house is solid up to the second floor. There are window frames and remains of sandstone cornices .
The Zum Braunen Hirsch tavern was at Hauptstrasse 30 when a dispute broke out there in 1849 between residents and Bavarian soldiers who were in the city to stop poaching . The soldiers were evicted and this event is now called the Orber Revolution . But just a few days later the soldiers returned with reinforcements. The inn at Hauptstrasse 30 no longer exists. The premises in the basement are now used for retail. The name Zum Braunen Hirsch can currently still be found on an inn in the neighboring house with number 32. However, the business is closed.
