The North Police Department.

The house at Am Markt 10 is a listed building in the East Frisian town of Norden ( district of Aurich , Lower Saxony ). The north police station is located in the house. Erhard Lüppena from the family of the chiefs of Soltborg (today part of the Jemgum municipality ) and from 1620 to 1643 mayor of the north, built the house in 1617.

description

The house faces the market independently from the gable; the eaves part of the building on the right side of the house was originally an independent gabled house that lost its gable in the 19th century. Only the facade of this part of the building remained. Behind it is a new building. Between the first and second floors of the gable- facing part of the building there are three cartouches made of sandstone , of which the left shows the coat of arms of the builder family Lüppena, while the right adorns a split shield, possibly showing the coat of arms of the Rykena family, with which the builder, Erhard Lüppena (1579–1644) was married. The year of construction 1617 can be seen in the middle cartridge.

A skylight with curved horns of plenty is located above the rectangular entrance door . There are double relief arches with diamond ashlar above the windows on the ground floor and first floor . They show that the house was equipped with cross- frame windows when it was built.
