history

House Crengeldanz 1948

First mentioned in a document in 1341, the property was owned by the von Dücker family of ministers in the 14th century . Hermann von Witten-Steinhausen (1374–1435) married into this family , whereby the Witten-Crengeldanz line was formed. In the following period, the house changed hands several times through the marriage of heirloom daughters. It belonged successively to the von Hoete (from 1532), von Stammheim and von Sydow (1743 to 1825) families

In 1825 the brothers Gustav and Theodor Müllensiefen bought the house for 4,400  thalers and founded a glassworks on the site , which was later taken over by Flachglas AG and now belongs to the Pilkington company . They also built Villa Müllensiefen as a residence. The garden city of Crengeldanz is also in the immediate vicinity .

description

The main house dates from 1706 and is one of the few remaining baroque mansions in the city. The outbuildings probably date from the same period. A small pavilion is assigned to the revolutionary architecture. The mansion is a simple rectangular building with one and a half floors and a hipped roof . It is divided into five axes by windows.
