Schulz House
The house Schulz is a residential building at the Saddelerstraße 1 in Düsseldorf district Urdenbach .
history
The Schulz house was built in 1958 by Joachim Neiser. It is characterized by the choice of “idiosyncratic” building materials ( teak and perforated bricks ) and by its graphics , as well as by the dynamics of the sloping and crooked contours : a dormer window “pushes itself dynamically out of the slope”, the exterior has a “dynamic roofline limited". The architect built the houses in Neiser and Niederrheinstrasse 327 and was a student of Hans Schwippert : Neiser “does not start with the pre-war modernity in design, but develops a consistently new style with the formal language of the 1950s”.

In this building, the architect works with “clearly delimited areas in various idiosyncratic materials” and with “graphic values”. The input side shows two different building materials as wood and stone hole: A paneling from teak clad the gable end. In addition to the wood, the gable side also shows a graphic mesh consisting of a wide band of perforated stones . The mesh hides the windows on the gable end. The “dynamic roof line” is also impressive. A long sloping roof starts directly above the wall , contrasting with the dormer window , which protrudes steeply from the slope.
