House of Islam (Association)

The House of Islam (HDI) is a center for German-speaking Muslims in Lützelbach ( Odenwald ), founded on June 6, 1982 by Muhammad Siddiq (Wolfgang) Borgfeldt . Borgfeldt is a member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research headed by Yusuf al-Qaradawi . A book publisher is affiliated with the center and publishes German-language literature on Islam .

A former hotel serves as the Islamic cultural center, which Muhammad Siddiq bought in 1983 with private donations, including the support of Muslims from Kuwait.

The HDI offers seminars, sister meetings, girls 'camps, boys' meetings, tent camps and educational courses. Social activities take place on days of walking, cycling, fasting together, breaking the fast together and traveling. The service of the HDI includes the organization and implementation of Hajj and Umrah , the large and the small pilgrimage. According to their own statements, over two thousand German Muslims are said to have made this trip with the HDI.

In addition, the HDI disseminates Islam with the organization and support of information weekends, Islam weeks and information stands.

In 1994, the HDI said it was the godfather of the establishment of the Muslim Youth in Germany (MJD), which the HDI will continue to support.

Meeting of German-speaking Muslims

With the “supraregional meeting of German-speaking Muslims” (TDM), the HDI has gained greater awareness, which takes place every year on a (mostly) long weekend and which, according to its own statements, up to 1000 participants should have come. These meetings were held for the first time in 1976.

Cooperations

According to its own information, the HDI works closely with the Islamic Religious Community of Hesse (IRH) at the state level .

At the federal level, the HDI is a member of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany (ZMD). At the European level, the HDI takes part in the “Islam in Europe” forum. At the international level, the HDI takes part in the meetings of the ICII (International Council of Islamic Information) through its 1st chairman.

As part of youth work in Germany, the HDI works with the “Muslim Youth in Germany” (MJD), which emerged in 1994 from youth activities of the HDI.
