The House of Peter I ( Ukrainian Будинок Петра I ) is a listed building in the historic Podil district of the Ukrainian capital Kiev . The name comes from the assumption that the Russian Tsar Peter I lived in the building in August 1706 and January 1707 when he was overseeing the construction of the Kiev fortress .

The corner house, built at the end of the 17th or the beginning of the 18th century on Kostjantyniwska Street ( вул. Костянтинівська ) number 6–8 on the corner of Chorywa Street ( вулицею Хорива ) was built as the official residence of the Kiev mayor. It stands across the street, as it was built before the major fire in Podil in 1811 , which it survived almost unscathed as one of the few buildings in Podil. In its basic architecture, although it has been expanded and rebuilt many times, it is similar to the Masepa House , which was built around the same time and is also located in Podil. The risalit added by the architect Ivan Hryhorowytsch-Barskyj in the middle of the 18th century still dominates the facade of the house today.

From 1787 the building was used as an asylum, from 1811 as a school and from 1861 as an orphanage. Since 1978, the building, which has been an architectural monument since 1963, has housed the Museum of Charity in Kiev , a branch of the Museum of the History of Kiev .
