The Haus zum Ritter , later the Archbishop's Palace , today Domsingschule, is a representative town house in Freiburg im Breisgau .

The Haus zum Ritter was founded in 1756 by Johann Jacob Fechter as a society and meeting house for the knighthood of the Breisgau in front of Austria and the aristocracy, who had a share in the Breisgau state , in Freiburg im Breisgau on the south side of the Münsterplatz , on behalf of the then President Ferdinand Sebastian von Sickingen-Hohenburg built on the site of a previous medieval building.

From 1766 the house was used as a meeting place for the estates. After the state rule was abolished in 1806, the grand ducal court court was located here until 1824 . In 1832, when the Archdiocese of Freiburg reorganized it (1821), it became the residence of the Archbishop of Freiburg and thus the Archbishop's Palace. After another renovation in 1995/96, it has since been the cathedral singing school and the seat of the Freiburg Cathedral Boys' Choir .

When Freiburg was bombed in 1944, the Haus zum Ritter burned down completely. The reconstruction at the beginning of the 1950s was based on the structure of the house that was changed in the 19th century.
