action
Billy Jim Hawkins is a lawyer in a small town in West Virginia . Together with his cousin RJ, who works as his assistant, he takes on the defense of accused, whose innocence he proves in the course of the episode.
background
In the mystery created by Robert Hamner and David Karp , James Stewart played a role similar to that in his earlier hit 1959 Anatomy of a Murder . Despite the great response and winning the Golden Globe Award, the series was canceled again after one season at Stewart's request. Stewart felt that the quality of scripts and directors on television could not consistently reach the level to which he had become accustomed with his movies.
As part of The New CBS Tuesday Night Movies , rotated every three weeks with the TV movie adaptations of Shaft and other TV series in one issue. This was a popular programming strategy in television entertainment in the late 1960s and 1970s.
