Robert Webber

Robert Webber (born October 14, 1924 in Santa Ana , California - May 21, 1989 in Malibu , California) was an American actor .

Life

The son of a sailor grew up in Northern California and attended the Compton Collage. After serving with the Marine Corps during World War II , during which he was stationed in Guam and Okinawa , among other places , he began his acting career in the late 1940s, initially at the theater. He made his breakthrough as a film actor in the role of superficial juror No. 12 in the court classic The Twelve Jurors . He appeared in a variety of supporting roles in the decades that followed, in which Webber was never locked into a clear stereotype. Robert Webber also starred in some films such as Hysteria . He often appeared in war films, e.g. B. in The Dirty Dozen (1967) or Battle for Midway (1976), in which he embodies generals. In the 1980s he played a gay lyric poet in Ten - The Dream Woman and a prosecutor in Nuts ... Crazy (1987). On television he also appeared in series, u. a. in The Model and the Snoop , he had guest appearances in many other TV series since the early 1950s.

Robert Webber died of lateral sclerosis at the age of 64 . His first marriage to Miranda Jones was between 1953 and 1958 and they divorced. In 1972 he married Gundel Mertens, with whom he stayed until his death.
