Robert Scheerer

Robert Scheerer (born December 28, 1929 in Santa Barbara , California - March 3, 2018 in Valley Village , Los Angeles , California) was an American director , film producer and actor .

life and career

Robert Sheerer was seen as an actor in smaller roles in several films between 1942 and 1946. In 1948 he was on Broadway with Carol Channing in the musical Lend an Ear , for his performance in this play he received a Theater World Award . In the 1950s he appeared as an actor in a number of television series before he increasingly turned to directing.

Robert Scheerer has mainly worked for television in the course of his career. His direction on The Danny Kaye Show earned him an Emmy Award in 1964 , and by the 1980s he was nominated for nine other Emmys. He has directed numerous US television series including Falcon Crest , Matlock , Love Boat , The Colbys , Spaceship Enterprise: The Next Century and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine . He also directed the movies Adam at Six AM (1970) with Michael Douglas , the Disney fantasy comedy Big Boy (1973) and the crime comedy Cash Machine (1980). He also produced some musical shows for television in the 1960s and 1970s, in which Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand were hosts.
