Haworthia herbacea is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae).

description

Haworthia herbacea grows stemless and sprouts. The upright, inwardly curved, ovate-lanceolate leaves form a rosette with a diameter of up to 8 centimeters. The greenish yellow, network-like patterned leaf blade is up to 6 centimeters long and 1 centimeter wide. There are translucent areas between the veins. The leaf surface is rough. The leaf edge and the leaf keel are covered with solid thorns .

The inflorescence reaches a length of up to 30 centimeters and consists of 30 to 40 flowers . The large flowers are beige and have pinkish red tips. The buds are bent into an S-shape.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia herbacea is common in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

The first description as Aloe herbacea by Philip Miller was published in 1768. William Thomas Stearn put the species in 1938 in the genus Haworthia .

There are numerous synonyms .
