Haworthia nortieri is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodilla family (Asphodeloideae).

description

Haworthia nortieri grows stemless and sprouts. The 25 to 45 almost upright, ovate-lanceolate to obovate leaves form a rosette with a diameter of 3 to 5 centimeters. The pale to purple green leaf blade is 6 inches long and 0.75 inches wide. There are translucent spots on the leaf surface. The leaf edge and the leaf quill are covered with small thorns .

The slender inflorescence reaches a length of up to 30 centimeters and consists of 15 to 20 flowers . The grayish white flowers have a yellowish throat.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia nortieri is common in the South African provinces of the North Cape and Western Cape .

The first description by Gerald Graham Smith was published in 1946. A nomenclatory synonym is Haworthia mucronata var. Nortieri (GGSm.) Halda (1997).

A distinction is made between the following varieties :

  • Haworthia nortieri var. Nortieri
  • Haworthia nortieri var. Globosiflora (GGSm.) MBBayer
  • Haworthia nortieri var. Pehlemanniae (CLScott) MBBayer
