Haworthia reticulata is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodilla family (Asphodeloideae).

description

Haworthia reticulata occasionally grows stem-forming and sprouting. The 25 to 40 semi-upright, rigid, inwardly curved, lanceolate-pointed leaves form a rosette with a diameter of up to 8 centimeters. The yellowish green, opaque leaf blade is 6 centimeters long and 1 centimeter wide. The leaf surface has a reticulate to speckled pattern and becomes reddish in the sun. The leaf margin and the leaf keel are often covered with short thorns .

The inflorescence reaches a length of up to 25 centimeters and consists of 20 to 30 flowers . The large flowers are white to pinkish red. The arched buds have flattened tips.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia reticulata is widespread in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

The first description as Aloe reticulata by Adrian Hardy Haworth was published in 1804. In 1812 he placed the species in the genus Haworthia . Nomenclatory synonyms are Aloe arachnoidea var. Reticulata (Haw.) Ker Gawl. (1811) and Apicra reticulata Willd. (1811, incorrect name ICBN -Article 11.4).
