Haworthia viscosa is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodil family (Asphodeloideae).

description

Haworthia viscosa grows in a stem-forming manner, sprouts and reaches heights of up to 30 centimeters with diameters of up to 8 centimeters. The 20 to 60 spread out, triangular leaves are closely arranged in three rows on the shoot. The leaf blade is up to 5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. The leaf surface is rough. The leaf tips are spread out and stinging.

The sparsely branched, loose inflorescence reaches a length of 15 to 20 centimeters and consists of eight to 15 flowers . The upside-down flower tube is curved and the inner tepals are rolled back.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia viscosa is widespread in the South African provinces of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape in the Little Karoo .

The first description as Aloe viscosa by Carl von Linné in Species Plantarum was published in 1753. Adrian Hardy Haworth placed the species in the genus Haworthia in 1812 .
