Haydn Sinfonietta Vienna

The Haydn Sinfonietta Wien is an orchestra founded in 1982 by the conductor Manfred Huss and based in Vienna .

The ensemble

The ensemble has been playing historical instruments since 1991 . The repertoire ranges from the baroque to the early romantic period, with particular attention to the Viennese classical period . In addition to the well-known English baroque violinist Simon Standage as concertmaster, musicians from more than 18 nations play in the ensemble.

The Haydn Sinfonietta Wien celebrated its first international success under Manfred Huss at the Casals Festival in Prades . Concert tours through many European countries were completed in the following years. Today the ensemble is one of the leading interpreters of the music of the Viennese classic, late baroque and early 19th century. As a world-class soloist, Lynne Dawson (soprano), Christophe Coin (cello), Paul Goodwin (oboe), Wolfgang Holzmair (baritone), Friedemann Immer ( baroque trumpet ), Christa Ludwig , Alexei Lubimov (piano), and others played with the orchestra , Ronald Brautigam (piano), Gary Karr (double bass), Anthony Pay (clarinet), Milan Turkovic (bassoon), The Tallis Choir and the Kodály Choir .

Many of the numerous recordings, mainly with works by the eponym Joseph Haydn , have been endowed with high record prices.
