Hayedeh ( Persian : هایده) was a Persian singer (born April 10, 1942 as Ma'soumeh Dadehbala in Tehran , Iran , † January 20, 1990 in San Francisco , California ).

Life

Hayedeh was born in Tehran in 1942 . She studied Persian vocal music with Ali Tajvidi and began her professional career in 1968. Shortly before the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Hayedeh moved to London . From 1982 she lived in Los Angeles . Hayedeh died in 1990 at the age of 47 from a heart attack . Her younger sister Mahasti was also a singer and lived in the United States.

Hayedeh gave many concerts at the city hall of Tehran (Rudaki Hall), in the Royal Albert Hall in London, at the University in Los Angeles , in the Schönberg Hall in Tel Aviv etc. She composed more than 120 works.

Documentary about Hayedeh

In 2009 Pejman Akbarzadeh made a documentary film about Hayedeh's life and work. The Islamic government in Tehran has banned the broadcast of Hayedeh's music on the radio because it was accused of being close to the family of the last Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi , and because women singing alone are generally prohibited in Iran.
