The Hayes River is a river in the Nunavut Territory of Canada .

It has its origins in a nameless lake, 50 km north of the western tip of Wager Bay . From there it flows about 250 km in a north-westerly direction. Then it turns to the southwest and after another 70 km meets the Back River , just before its confluence with the Chantrey Inlet . Its mean annual discharge is 120 m³ / s.
