The Haynes Glacier is a large glacier in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . It flows east of Mount Murphy to the Crosson Ice Shelf on the Walgreen Coast .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1976 after Major John W. Haynes of the United States Marine Corps , a pilot in Operation Deep Freeze in 1967 and 1968, who on January 1, 1967 carried out a flight over the glacier described here to take further aerial photographs.
