Business activity

Broadband Infraco provides a technical infrastructure for landline and mobile network operators licensed in South Africa who operate long-distance and international data transmission services. Broadband Infraco's tasks are to provide the technical infrastructure with high data transmission rates within its national long-distance network and in an international submarine cable network. Domestically, the expansion is based on fiber optic connections .

Within South Africa, the company's focus is on efficiently linking all nine provinces as well as the major metropolitan areas and cities, as well as expanding the network in rural regions. The regional political network development goals in southern Africa include the expansion of communication links to neighboring countries in South Africa, such as Botswana , Lesotho , Mozambique , Namibia , Zimbabwe and Eswatini .

In the transcontinental framework, an improved communication structure with Europe and North America is sought. The company was active as an investor in the West Africa Cable System (WACS), which starts in Yzerfontein on the South African side and reaches two junction points on the European mainland along the west coast of Africa , in Sesimbra ( Portugal ) and in Brean ( Sedgemoor district ) in Great Britain , from where it runs to its terminus in London .

Broadband Infraco offers digital transmission services in four stages (as of 2016), whereby a data transmission rate of up to 10 Gbps is possible in the most powerful stage of the STM-64 multiplex process .
