Town twinning
Sesimbra is a member of the European city association Douzelage , to which 24 cities and municipalities from each country of the European Union belong.
Oddities
Due to the street layout in the old town, there is de facto left-hand traffic over a distance of around 30 m along the "Avenida da Liberdade" at the level of the "Jardim Público" . This is the only short part of the street where traffic can flow in both directions; everything else is designed as a one-way street going into or out of town.
