Hazel Clark-Riley , née Clark , (born October 3, 1977 in Livingston , New Jersey ) is a former American athlete who was active in the 800-meter run .

Life

After she had her first successes at the US University Championships in the late 1990s, she was the first US champion in the 800 m in 2000. In this final, the first three places in the Clark family remained with her sister-in-law Jearl Miles-Clark finishing second and her sister Joetta Clark-Diggs third. Hazel then went to the Olympic Games in Sydney and was there seventh in the final.

In March 2001, Clark tested positive for pseudoephedrine and received a warning. After she became at the US Championships in 2001 Second, they also launched at the World Championships in Edmonton , but suffered in the semifinals a stress fracture from which she recovered only in 2003 again. However, their start in 2003 was unsuccessful. At the US championships she was only fifth and could therefore not take part in the 2003 World Championships in Paris .

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Clark was eliminated in the preliminary stages. It was not until 2005 that she regained her earlier form and was again US champion over 800 m. At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 she again reached a grand final and was again seventh as in Sydney 2000. At the World Championships in 2007 , the Olympic Games in 2008 and the World Championships in 2009 , she missed the finals .
