Hear 'n Aid is a compilation album released in 1986 . It was created for the Hear 'n Aid project , the aim of which was to establish a comparable music project in the heavy metal scene based on the example of the Band Aid project around Bob Geldof (1984) in order to raise funds for the victims of the Famine in Ethiopia 1984–1985 .

Emergence

For the album was from Vivian Campbell , Jimmy Bain and Ronnie James Dio song Stars written, who as single was released, and in the UK 26 the place charts reached. Stars was recorded on May 20 and 21, 1985 with the participation of forty musicians who belonged to popular hard rock and heavy metal bands in the year of its creation . The basic instrumentation corresponds to that of a then modern rock band; the instruments were played by members of the Dio group .

The remaining tracks for the album were made available by the participating bands for a good cause. Any proceeds that exceeded the cost of producing the album were donated.
