Heckerhut award

The Heckerhut award has been held since 2005 in memory of the radical democratic revolutionary Friedrich Hecker from the SPD district association of Konstanz to personalities who have rendered outstanding services to social democracy and who stand for freedom, equality and brotherhood.

The award was founded on the initiative of Peter Friedrich (politician, 1972) . Constance was the starting point for the defeated Hecker uprising in 1848 . The aim of the Hecker uprising was to abolish the monarchy and introduce democracy . The Hecker hat was worn by Friedrich Hecker and goes back to the hat shape of the calabrian .
