Hector Duhon
Hector Duhon (born June 27, 1915 in Lafayette / Louisiana , † March 3, 2000 in Duson ) was an American fiddle player and early representative of Cajun music .
Duhon, whose father and grandfather also played the fiddle, first built an instrument out of a cigar box. Since 1928 he has performed with accordionist and singer Octa Clark . In the 1930s he made recordings as a member of the Dixie Ramblers . After his father's death in 1936, he initially took over his farm, but continued to perform with the Dixie Ramblers , with whom he also gave concerts on a national level. After their dissolution, he returned to working with Clark. It was not until 1982 that they recorded their debut album, Old-Time Cajun Music, with guitarist Michael Doucet on the Arhoolie label . In the Louisiana Folklife Recording Series appeared on the LP The Dixie Ramblers Ensemble Encore recordings with Duhon.
