Hector Hanoteau
Hector Hanoteau , actually Hector Charles Auguste Octave Constance Hanoteau (born May 25, 1823 in Decize , Département Nièvre , † April 7, 1890 in Briet , Département Nièvre), was a French painter .
Hanoteau was a student of Jean-François Gigoux at the École des Beaux-Arts . Inspired by this, his first works were more likely to be assigned to genre painting. But Hanoteau was soon able to find his own style and shifted more and more to landscape painting , which he was able to make more and more realistic over time. The best example of this is his painting Landscape from the Compiègne Area, exhibited in 1847 .
Hanoteau later went on a study trip to and through Algeria and brought back many sketches from there, which later became the basis for some remarkable pictures, for example an Arab camp outside the walls of Laghouat .
