Hedwig Funkenhauser (born August 26, 1969 in Satu Mare , Romania ) is a former German sword fencer and German champion .

Life

Hedwig Funkenhauser, like the fencers Monika Weber , Rita and Susanne König, is of Sathmar Swabian descent. In 1979, her parents moved with her and her sister Zita from Romania to Germany; her father registered both daughters with FC Tauberbischofsheim . In 1988 Funkenhauser graduated from the Matthias-Grünewald-Gymnasium in Tauberbischofsheim .

Greatest successes

In 1993 Hedwig Funkenhauser won the German championship in 1993 in the epee singles and won silver with the epee team at the world championships in Essen .
