Hedwig Wechner

Hedwig Wechner (born December 27, 1955 in St. Johann in Tirol ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and a former member of the National Council .

Hedwig Wechner attended a modern-language grammar school after elementary school and then graduated from the Pedagogical Academy . After her training, she was a secondary school teacher at the sports school in Wörgl .

Wechner was a member of the Angath municipal council between 1986 and 1990 and then moved to Wörgl, where she was a councilor from 1992 to 1998. Between 1998 and 2004 she was a city councilor in Wörgl. From 2004 to 2010 she was the city's second vice mayor. In addition, Wechner is a member of the district school council in Kufstein and the staff representative of the Social Democratic Teachers Austria (SLÖ).

After Gerhard Reheis moved to the Platter state government, Wechner moved to the National Council on July 4, 2008, from which she resigned on October 27, 2008.

In the mayor's run-off election on March 28, 2010, Wechner was elected mayor of the city of Wörgl to succeed Arno Abler .
