history
Angath belonged to Schranne Langkampfen in the Middle Ages . In 1188 the place name was first mentioned as " Anegathę " in the tradition book of Raitenhaslach Monastery . In the 15th and 16th centuries, Angath was, due to its location on the Inn, the center of Tyrolean Inn shipping and shipbuilding. Until the river was regulated, Tyrol's only larger Inn island was in the area of the village.
Angath is still very rural today and functions as a residential suburb for commuters to Wörgl and Kufstein. The municipal council has decreed a new street and house number system and the introduction of the new postcode “6321” with effect from October 1st, 2010.

Blazon : "Split of black and silver, top with two crossed linden leaves and at the bottom with two crossed oars in mixed up colors."
Declaration of coat of arms: The colors and the lake-leaf motif indicate that large parts of Angath previously belonged to the rulership of the Frauenchiemsee monastery . The oars remind of the former role as one of the main countries of the Tyrolean Inn shipping.
