Culture and sights
- Mariastein Castle and Pilgrimage Church : Mariastein is the destination of numerous pilgrims with the famous pilgrimage church . The castle with its 42 m high keep was formerly used to secure the old Roman road when it still ran along the left bank of the Inn. The church in the tower can be reached via 150 steps. The residential tower (42 m) from the 14th century standing on a rock became a place of pilgrimage in the 18th century after a miracle of Mary . In the castle is the “Fürstensaal” with a richly carved coffered ceiling , a museum with the Tyrolean archducal hat and the originally Gothic Chapel of Grace ( reconstruction 1682–1685) with the Mother of God ( around 1450) and Rococo altarpiece (18th century).
