Gerhard Reheis (born January 7, 1955 in Roppen ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1999 to 2008 he was a member of the National Council , from 2008 to 2012 a regional councilor and from 2012 to 2013 deputy governor in the regional government of Platter I and from 2013 to 2018 a member of the Tyrolean state parliament .

education and profession

Gerhard Reheis attended elementary school in Imst from 1961 to 1965 and then went to the local secondary school until 1969. After graduating from the Polytechnic School in Imst in 1969/70, Reheis learned the profession of typesetter from 1970 to 1974 . In the course of his training, Reheis graduated from the graphic vocational school in Innsbruck . In 1979 Reheis trained in phototypesetting and repro technology, and in 1984 he passed the final commercial apprenticeship examination for the apprenticeship as an office clerk . Reheis had already done military service in 1975.

Between 1974 and 1977 Reheis worked as a typesetter at the Hans Egger printing company in Imst. From 1977 to 1980 he worked in the field of film montage, repro technology and photo typesetting in the company "eggerdruck" Gebhard Egger in Imst. Reheis then switched to the political arena and from 1980 to 1997 he was the district manager of the SPÖ Imst. From 1997 to 1999 he was the district manager of the SPÖ Imst and Landeck .

politics

Gerhard Reheis has been a member of Imst's municipal council since 1992. From 1998 to 2001 he was a city councilor in Imst, and in 2001 he was elected mayor. In 2004 Reheis was confirmed in office with 65.86 percent in the 2004 municipal council election in the direct mayor election.

Reheis has been district party chairman of the SPÖ Imst since 1994 and a member of the state party executive of the SPÖ Tyrol. From 2002 to 2007 he was also the regional party chairman of the SPÖ Tirol. From April 21, 1999, Reheis represented the SPÖ in the National Council , where he was most recently active in the committees for culture, agriculture and forestry, sports affairs, the Court of Auditors and transport. On July 1, 2008, Reheis moved back to Tyrol and was sworn in as the new state social councilor in the Platter state government . His business area includes, among other things, the business areas of basic security, social counseling, care allowance, social insurance, refugee affairs, integration of immigrants, youth welfare and social care professions.

In 2012 he took over the chairmanship of the SPÖ Tyrol from Hannes Gschwentner and the office of Deputy Governor. After losing the state election in 2013 , Reheis lost the office of Deputy Governor, and in 2014 he also handed over the office of State Party Chairman to Ingobert Mayr .
