Hedwiga Rosenbaumová (born July 3, 1864 in Prague ; † July 31, 1939 there ; also Hedwig Rosenbaum ) was a Bohemian tennis player and participant in the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris.

Career

From 1899 Rosenbaum was the wife of the then famous sports reporter Rosenbaum-Jenkins. She herself was of German origin, but lived in Prague . Rosenbaumová became the first woman to ever run for Bohemia, winning two bronze medals at the second Summer Olympics in Paris in 1900 . After a bye in the quarterfinals of the individual competition , she lost in the semifinals against the later silver medalist Yvonne Prévost in two sets with 1: 6, 1: 6. In the mixed competition , she played together with the British Archibald Warden . The two were beaten in the semi-finals, the second game for them. They were defeated by the French Prévost and the British Harold Mahony in two sets with 3: 6, 0: 6. It remained active until 1904. In 1899 it was number 5 on the Austrian national list. In the same year she won the tournament in Berlin, in 1904 she won the title at the Bohemian championships. Also in 1904 she was second at the Austrian championships.
