Archibald Adam Warden (born May 11, 1869 in Edinburgh , Scotland , † October 7, 1943 ) was a Scottish tennis player .

Warden graduated from the University of Glasgow as a doctor in 1893 . His first practice was in Glasgow before moving to Paris before 1900, where he also got his doctorate in medicine .

Warden played his first tennis tournament, the East of Scotland Championships at St. Andrews , in 1891. At the second Summer Olympics in Paris in 1900, Warden took part in the tennis competition: he played mixed with Hedwiga Rosenbaumová, who came from Bohemia . The two were beaten in the semifinals - they were defeated by the French Yvonne Prévost and the British Harold Mahony in two sets with 3: 6, 0: 6 - and thus won bronze. In the singles Warden was eliminated in the quarterfinals and in the men's doubles with Charles Sandsin the first round. The following year Warden reached the quarterfinals of the Paris International Championship , where he lost to Max Décugis . Most of the time Warden played tournaments on the Côte d'Azur , having moved to Cannes at the beginning of the 20th century . He played his last tournament at the age of 67. His son Kay was also an avid tennis player.
