Hedy Iracema-Brügelmann , née Hedwig Hänsel (born August 16, 1881 in Porto Alegre , Brazil, † April 9, 1941 in Karlsruhe ) was a German-Brazilian opera singer (soprano).

Life

Iracema-Brügelmann studied singing at the Cologne Conservatory. After graduating in 1903, Hedy deepened her vocal training with the renowned concert singer and vocal trainer Wally Schauseil . This was probably done on a private basis, although Wally Schauseil also taught at the Cologne Conservatory from 1904. In 1909 Iracema-Brügelmann made her debut at the Royal Court and State Opera in Stuttgart, went to the Vienna Court Opera from 1917 to 1920 and then to the State Theater in Karlsruhe, where she ended her career and also died in 1941. She received the title of royal court chamber singer and was awarded the Charlottenkreuz in 1916 (see Rückert 2006).

She was married to the businessman and later bank director Theodor Brügelmann (grandson of Johann Gottfried Brügelmann ), with whom she had a son ( Hermann Brügelmann ).
