Heißesheim is a district of the municipality of Mertingen in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries in Bavaria .

history

Hotesheim appeared for the first time as "Heißishain" or "Häwsesshan" between 1023 and 1140 in Augsburg documents and was called "Huesingesheim" - home of Husing - around 1250. It was subordinate to the Reich as Hofmark and had lower jurisdiction (for insults, lawsuits and offenses). The German kings gave it to knights and patricians of Ulm and Augsburg as fiefdoms. The Dietenheim landlords built a chapel in 1491. The late Gothic crucifixion group from around 1480 and the wooden figures of St. Sebastian and St. Ottilie come from. In 1531 Donauwörth came into the possession of the Hofmark. After the church was destroyed in the Thirty Years War, the city had the previous Gothic building expanded in 1680, whereby the Gothic choir and tower substructure were retained. Until the end of the 18th century, the church was considered the Church of the Fourteen Holy Helpers ; today it is consecrated to St. Margaretha .

In 1870 Mennonites who came from Baden settled in Heissheim . They bought 400 days of arable land and meadows; on their large estate they proved themselves to be able farmers.

Hotesheim has been part of the Mertingen tax community since the beginning of the 18th century .

The landscape protection area Am Langweidlegraben with an area of ​​52.7 hectares is located east of Heissesheim .
