Releasing hook

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The releasing hook is a hook attached to a rope , tackle or rope , which is used to heat or lower objects. The term is derived from "hot", the nautical term for "pulling up".

Release hooks that can be released under load are of particular importance in the area of lifeboats on ships and offshore installations . On the one hand, this is to prevent a boat from falling too early into the water and thereby injuring or killing people, on the other hand, it should be made possible to release the boat even if the special circumstances of the emergency situation cause a hook is under load although the boat could be released. These releasing hooks usually have a hydraulic lock in which a lever pushes the suspension link over the tip of the hook.
